Batman Villains - What Is The Story With Poison Ivy?

by Jessica R

Poison Ivy is one of the most sultry of Batman villains. Poison Ivy: Experiments turned Pamela Isley into the Poison Ivy we know today. She was a biology student and was seduced and injected with poisons by her science professor. This poison transformed the plain Pamela Isley into the plant-like menace that wreaks havoc on Gotham City. Poison Ivy, one of the most unique Batman villains, grew up being ignored by her wealthy parents. When she grew up, Poison Ivy dropped out of school after her boyfriend suddenly passed away. She is gradually changing from Pamela Isley to Poison Ivy. Moving from Seattle to Gotham City, Poison Ivy threatens the city with toxic spores unless they meet her demands. Batman, who has just entered the city the same year, is the only one who can stop Poison Ivy. She is one of the Batman villains that uses her potions to make other super heroes fall in love with her. Batman quickly puts a stop to her rampage and Poison Ivy gets put into a mental institution for insane criminals. Over the years, Poison Ivy's plant-like powers develop until she is super human. Her lips are poison so she uses this as one of her greatest weapons. She can literally give her enemies a kiss of death. Poison Ivy was brought into the picture when comic book readers started to sympathize and relate to Catwoman. They needed a new evil female Batman villain to take her place. Poison Ivy was the answer because it gave the readers a new female super villain to hate. Looking gorgeous with her flaming red hair and her skimpy outfit made of leaves, Poison Ivy is one of the best Batman villains of all time.
