Cheap Weddings - Is It Possible?
The wedding day is something every woman looks forward to. Most of us love the finer things in life, including the big fancy wedding, but we all know that these weddings aren't feasible for everyone. If you can stop yourself from spending unnecessary amounts of money, cheap weddings are very possible. Here are some things you can do to prevent unnecessary spending:
Bridal Shops:
Stand your ground and don't let them order a dress in a size that you know will be too large for you. As you're trying on wedding dresses, you're the one who knows what size you need. They will often tell you that they must allow for this or that, and then you end up paying alteration fees for their seamstress to take the dress up. Cheap weddings stay cheap when you do things like make sure they order a dress in the proper size.
Vendors:
Regardless of the vendor, no matter who it is, be sure you know what all their fees are from the beginning. Whether it's the caterer or the band, you want to make sure that they don't end up charging you some sort of fees for nonsense things. Ask them right out if they have any hidden fees, and get the agreement in writing.
Don't Say Wedding:
When you're calling around to get price quotes from different vendors, don't mention that you're having a wedding. If you just tell them you're having an 'event', this will save you more money-- sounds silly, but it's true.
You can expect that when a vendor gets a whiff of a wedding, they will charge a lot more... often triple or quadruple the price of an event that's no smaller than a wedding.
Don't forget that once you have a quote, you can always haggle to get a better price. Cheap weddings result from following tips like this. So, can they be done? Of course! The only thing is that you need to stick with your budget and steer clear of unnecessary spending.
