Find Clothes That Will Look And Feel Great Too.

by Andrea Dilea

If you are a plus-sized girl or woman, you already know that shopping can be a chore. Every woman, no matter what her size is, needs a shopping strategy, and if you already know that clothes that fit well are going to be harder to find, it goes double for you! Take a look at a few tips below and make sure that your fashion sense stays sharp this winter.

If you want to update your style and improve the way you look then knowing what clothes work for you is the first lesson to learn. Even though many magazines and news outlets may report that sticking to dark colors is the way to go, their misinformed. The most important aspect of your clothing is the cut. So go beyond your basic dark colors of black, grays and browns. A bright orange suit with a great cut is just as sexy as a black suit. For best fit look for items that taper to your body type, usually around the waist and hips accentuates the curves of most women. Don't forget that no matter what you wear it should be comfortable and you should feel confident in it.

Not all body types look good in the same style of clothes. Oftentimes, "plus-sized" lines of apparel are only oversized versions of their garments for smaller women. The sad reality is that these clothes were designed with the smaller woman in mind, and frequently do not have the same flattering effect on the plus size girl. Stand in front of your mirror and decide what features you'd like to accentuate, rather than what you'd like to disguise. If you have voluptuous curves, pick styles of clothing that enhance them. Wide-hipped women should opt for curvy A-line skirts rather than broomstick skirts. When shopping for skirts, be conscious of hem length. Skirts that fall at your calf will shorten the appearance of your legs, but floor- or knee-length skirts will flatter.

Layering is absolutely the best way to stay warm on a cold winter's day, and stacking several summer tops is better looking and more stylish than wearing bulky sweaters. Look for colors that complement each other and look good on you, and you'll end up with a mix and match wardrobe that can work for every season. Your outline will also be slimmer and more attractive than when you're wearing a huge sweater that "pouches out" around your middle.

Just because you are shopping for plus-sized clothing does not require that you select clothing that does not make you look attractive. It is possible to choose clothing that is attractive and that makes you feel good; it just takes some effort.
