Latest Trends in Acne Scar Removal

by Clarita Milles

Scars caused by acne are unattractive and embarrassing. Severe acne is a common issue for teenagers and some adults. It is annoying, unsightly, and painful. The person afflicted goes through a constant cycle of popping pimples and then dwelling over the scars and how to get rid of them. This has sprung a tremendous market for acne scars treatment.

The hottest trends in acne scar removal range from the chemical peel to laser treatments. Some ways are more expensive than others, and some are more painful.

Acne Scars Treatment

To start with lets talk about dermabrasion. The dermatologist will numb your face first and then begin removing layers through the "sanding" process. A metal brush or diamond surfaced spinning blade scrapes away the top layer of skin, removing acne scars along with the skin. Your skin will eventually scab. Your face is numb during the process, but after the anesthetic wears off the patient must rest and recover. Recovery time takes about 2 - 3 weeks.

Second, we have laser treatment. This procedure involves burning your skin with radiation. Plus, it is a fairly new procedure and it should be noted that not a lot of trials have been done on its long term effects. Depending on the depth of acne scarring, bandages are necessary for several weeks.

Next on the list is chemical peel. Acid is used to burn off the top layer of skin on your face. Redness and swelling is common after the procedure. Recovery time takes weeks. The acid causes stinging, redness, irritation and dryness. In addition you may have to go through it several times as it can take multiple treatments for desired results.

Moreover we have subcision. Subcision is a type of treatment used to get rid of acne scars that are the rolling type, which usually occur on the cheeks and forehead. For this treatment, the skin is separated from the tissue underneath it. This allows blood to move into the newly created opening, raising the skin. This method typically requires several treatments to give good results.

Next, augmentation. This is a process by which your dermatologist injects fillers, usually collagen, under the skin to help smooth the acne scarred area. Also the doctor may take fat from other places in your body and inject that instead of collagen. Recovery time is short, a day at most, as it's just like receiving any other shot. People often return to work right away. It should be noted that this is a temporary fix at the moment, lasting about six months. However, in the future as different "fillers" are discovered, it may last longer.

Last but certainly not least, the punch method. A cookie cutter-like tool is used to cut out individual scars, scooping them out of your face like ice cream. The procedure itself may leave a slight scar. Then the hole in your face can be filled with fat from another part of your body. After this treatment is complete, dermabrasion is recommended because of the unevenness of the newly filled holes. Combing the treatments is popular. Recovery time takes several weeks longer than the other methods.

We have not yet read topical creams in this list. It would be a painless way, and the hottest trends include some natural creams. But some of these creams don't work, as they are lacking the key ingredient for diminishing scars, a regenerative agent. A hot trend is a painless solution to scars, a strong acne treatment cream with a scar healing solution already in it.

Available now is a substance which makes a great treatment for scars healing. It contains the serum of a little creature that heals its own skin on a daily basis. The tiny snail which basks in the sun all day, produces its very own skin healing serum. When collected and used in acne scars treatment great results have been recorded. A wonderful product for acne scars treatment, BioSkinForte is an all natural cream with regenerative enzymes that help to rebuild the skin, in turn erasing scars caused by acne.
