Life Without Health - Is It Worth Living

by June Carr

The most significant affair on this earth is our health and well being and we should do everything that we can to maintain the right balance. Unquestionably other things are crucial also, we need an sufficient amount of money to live in society, we need companionship and a roof over our head in order to continue a vigorous state of being, but in one author's thinking, no one thing is more important than our health and well being. In order for me to make such a bold statement, I'll of course offer a bit more in-depth in insights.

While my thoughts are my own, they do include substance and are not simply ramblings. I was forunate to have (or had) a very close friend whose focal point in his life the acquiring of money, this did not cause him to be a negative person, quite the opposite, many times he came to me during difficult times desiring to help, now he is now gone from this world, he lost his health and then his life. This is not what happens everyday and by no means do I want to paint this piece with despair, rather inspiration.

This is not a debating ground for religious topics, yet in my heartI believe fervently that the soul does not end and this this journey is amerely rehearsal for the next; but I want to assure you I want to enjoy this journey 110%, savoring, taking in the air, feeling the exhilaration of the wind in my face and the beauty of a colorful sunset. When it's my time to go, I'll move without fear to my maker, but until then, I will continue to journey boldly across the land and this can only be done with my health.

One reader wondered! 'Why is health more important than wealth?'

Very simply, with our health and wellbeing we can go all-out, we can produce a living, we can write resumes, go on job interviews, pursue our dreams, embark upon new projects, exceed our dreams, but only if we possess the concentration and well being to persevere. As I sit now pondering this article, I'm looking across the water, it is quiet and serene and my mind is free to ramble and soar, but my mind is fired by my energy and my energy by proper nutrition, staying active and a positive outlook on my life; yet again, all this is fueled by excellent health.

Each night as I start to close my eyes, I think optimistic thoughts, I perform deep breathing, I communicate with God (yes I believe He exists), and express thanks for my fitness, but I do not take it for granted, I strive to maintain fitness. Every day (and I'm not an early riser, favoring late night writing) I'll do a series of stretching exercises and lite aerobics to increase my metabolism. I'm fortunate, I have good genes, my dear mother lived to be 94 and my grandmother nearly the same, I was taught these practices from them and I do not take these practices, nor my health for granted.

I suppose I'm on a campaign, having recently lost two close friends; two friends I thought the world of, but two friends who are now gone from this world. I do not grieve for these friends; feeling they now soar in the stars, but I miss talking and sharing their company and desire that they were still here with me.

If there is any moral to this, it is simply to be thankful for the life given you and to treasure it. While I can give you no definite answer as to what will occur when we leave this life, I can offer this counsel.

Live your life to the fullest, and appreciate every breath that you breathe.
